EASTERN NIGERIA MONTH OF PHOTOGRAPHY

Founded in 2023 as a grassroots cultural initiative, Enugu Photo Festival is a vibrant, community-driven celebration of contemporary photography rooted in the rich history and evolving identity of Eastern Nigeria. Conceived to amplify local narratives and build bridges between tradition and innovation, the festival brings together photographers, visual artists, curators, scholars, and the general public for a month of exhibitions, conversations, and cultural exchange.

Recognizing the power of photography to preserve heritage, spark dialogue, and drive social change, the festival was born out of a collective effort by artists and cultural advocates in Enugu. In 2025, this vision culminated in the creation of the Art Focus Foundation, a non-profit organization established by the community to manage the festival and expand its impact through year-round programs, residencies, and educational initiatives.

Enugu Photo Festival is committed to positioning the city of Enugu as a creative capital for visual storytelling in Africa. By nurturing a new generation of image-makers and fostering global engagement, the festival contributes to the broader ecosystem of African photography festivals and artistic exchange.

The festival highlights both emerging and established photographers from Nigeria and across Africa, offering a multidisciplinary platform that spans photography, film, performance, and research. Through a wide range of programming, the festival promotes inclusive storytelling, cultural literacy, and artistic collaboration.

Enugu Photo Festival stands as a growing beacon for African photography—where community, culture, and creativity converge to shape new visual futures.

Join us in framing the stories that matter.

Let’s ignite Eastern Nigeria through photography and storytelling, framing bold new narratives rooted in its rich historic perspective.
